Bill Christianson began his career with the City of Milwaukee in the Budget & Management Division in 2010, serving there for 12 years and reaching the position of Budget & Fiscal Policy Manager. Here he developed policies and recommendations for financing the City’s Capital Improvements Program, analyzed departmental budgets, and built long-term budget forecasts. In 2022 Bill was appointed to the role of Deputy Comptroller for the City of Milwaukee and held this position for 1 ½ years until his election to City Comptroller in April 2024. Bill earned his Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO) designation in 2023.

Joshua Benson joined the City of Milwaukee in 2017 and was appointed Deputy Comptroller in 2020.  In 2022, he became the City’s Capital Finance Manager.  Prior to joining the City, Benson was a municipal advisor representative for PFM Financial Advisors LLC for 5 years where he provided technical and quantitative support throughout the traditional debt issuance process, as well as cash flow modeling and utility rate setting analysis.  Benson obtained his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license in 2023.

Jesse Hagen joined the City of Milwaukee in 2025, working to support the City’s debt program through bond issuance, reporting, and compliance. He previously worked at U.S. Bank, where he built a team whose reach spanned mutual funds, LLCs/LPs, CITs/CIFs, closed-end funds, alternative investments, and ETFs. He’s held multiple roles in the accounting and banking world over the last 15 years and is excited to contribute to the Comptroller’s public debt team.
