The Harbor District Water and Land Use Plan was adopted by the Common Council on February 6, 2018. The plan was developed through a public/private partnership with Harbor District Inc. In 2020, the City of Milwaukee adopted design standards for the Harbor District Riverwalk. More recently in 2025, ground was broken to extend the Riverwalk alongside the recently completed Komatsu Mining Corp. headquarters.
